MARC codes for Organisations in Germany

The Library of Congress (LoC) in the USA hosts a registry for MARC codes for organisations such as libraries and related organisations around the world.

German ISIL are simultaneously valid as MARC organisation codes. The MARC Code List for Organizations does not comprise MARC codes for German organisations and refers to the ISIL database instead. All German organisations involved in generating MARC 21 records or for which MARC 21 records (e. g. holdings information) are being generated need to have an ISIL available.
